How to Jump Start a Bankroll the Mickey Crimm Way

Theory doesn't pay the bills Mickey, nor does it guarantee anything other than discussing hopes and dreams with others while enjoying six-packs of Moose Drool. And where is there 1% cb on FPDW these days anyway?

Two different individuals decide to build a $5000 video poker bankroll. They both get paid once a week. They both decide to set aside $200 a week out of their paychecks.

Player A dutifully goes to the bank every Friday and deposits $200 into his video poker savings account with the intention of waiting until he has $5000 before playing advantage video poker.

Player B takes his $200 to the casino every Saturday and plays FPDW with %1 cashback. His plan is to play exactly 5000 games....

Theory builds cities and moon rockets. On the other hand, ignorant blather doesn't build anything but more ignorance.

I've been out drinking only one night in the last three months. And it wasn't last night. I'm slowing down with old age, Robbie. The hangovers hurt like hell these days. The old liver don't don't kick it out like it used to.

As far as FPDW with 1% cashback goes, I don't work paltry 1.76% edges anymore. Nowadays, if I ain't got 10% edge or more it's hard for me put my money in action. I'm spoiled rotten like that these days.

Yeah, sure I'm an old drunk, Rob. But I don't run on hopes and dreams. Applied gambling theory pays my bills and a lot more. I'm pure gambling theorist. I'm the toughest assed machine pro on the planet earth.

I directed my question at you, Rob, but it was really meant for up an coming players who are members of vpFREE. To get them to think about it. The notion that one has to scrimp and save, and stay out of action, until one has a certain bankroll amount is a myth.

So I won't ask you again. I'll ask them. Whose the favorite, Player A or Player B.

For what it's worth, I recommend a process very similar to Mickey's to my
live poker students who are trying to build a bankroll.

Player A. He will have saved his 5 grand while Player B is still checking paytables all over Nevada looking in vain for a FPDW game with 1% cashback!

That's funny. LOL. You would have loved video poker in Nevada in the 90's. Reno was strong until about 2006.

It's an approach to gambling, for example, a gambler could have say $100 discretionary cash and they want to know what's the best game to play for 5 hours with 95% confidence of lasting 5 hours. Dunbar's risk analyzer will answer this sort of question for video poker. But this is not the optimum way to grow a bankroll, for that you need the Kelly system:

http://www.jazbo.com/videopoker/kelly.html

Approximate Kelly bankroll is variance/edge bets.

Poundstone's book "Fortune's Formula" is a non mathematical explanation of the Kelly system.
