machines, whether they sit on the top of the deck waiting to be drawn
as I have described, or whether the remainder of the deck is shuffled
again or repeatedly until the draw. As long as the shuffle is random,
there is one chance in 1081 that those two cards you needed to
complete your royal will be in the desired place to appear on the
draw.
This is as I understand it how video poker machine dealing progressed over
the years. First machines had five cards you see and a card behind each of
those waiting for your hold choices. Second and still most common, five you
see were dealt and the deck was waiting for you too chose your hold cards and
then filled in your hand from left to right. Lastly the newer machines
continue to shuffle while you are choosing your hold cards and then fills in
left to right when you hit draw.
As said above none of these methods changes the odds for a given hand.
