How long before the Palms FPDW disappear?

Click here: Maloofs' stake in Palms at 2 percent - Business - ReviewJournal.com

SInce most of people on board are gamblers, there should be pool on the day and time the FPDW are yanked from the floor.

End of the year for sure. Give me November 28.

There was a hockey red carpet event that evening. You don't want celebities to walk in the door and see fleas eating out of mcdonald's bags and refilling their water bottles from the tap do you?

This cracked me up. But is it true? Is that what they do? I mean, the fleas?

Now THAT was the most bitingly accurate description ever made on this group.
LOL

Yep. And at least one likes to alternate mouthfuls of Big Mac with deep drags off a Marlboro 100.

This cracked me up, too.
Being a frequent flyer at these machines at the Palms, I can testify that is what we fleas do. I am totally not kidding.

Speaking as a flea, I don't like Mickey D's, and quit smoking a long time ago. I don't fill my water bottle from the tap. I fill it with nice, cold water from the water fountain by the restrooms near the tattoo parlor.
Seriously, you need to bring your own drinks to the Palms. I sometimes don't see a cocktail waitress for 90 minutes. Then she'll take your order and go home before delivering your drink. One time, the young lady went on break before I got my drink, and spent her break walking up and down between the pool area and the food court, chatting with another girl. This was within my eyesight, and probably others who were waiting for their drinks.
Another time, I was actually berated by a waitress. She said she couldn't find me to deliver my drink because I had taken off my jacket (which was hanging on the back of my chair) and did not recognize me. I had been sitting in the same seat for a couple of hours.
Maybe Frank can ask George M why the cocktail waitresses aren't trained. I seldom see any of them with more than four drinks on her tray. Even the boothlings at the Players Club acknowledge that others complain that the Palms has the worst cocktail service.
All the girls are cute, but so are the girls at the M, and they do just fine.
End of XVP rant. I continue to patronize the Palms because they send me a decent calendar, and they don't nick me point wise for playing good games.

So your complaint is that despite their beauty they are like the lilies of the field, they toil not neither do the spin. ~Spock

I'm sure it is well known that the Palms hires cocktail waitresses primarily for their cuteness quotient. I have been lucky. In the area I play I have gotten excellent service and a one phone number.

If you have a complaint against a specific server, I suggest you find out her name and file a complaint against her specifically. There is little point in making a general complaint against the entire cocktail staff as there is no infrastructure in casinos for dealing with such complaints. It would get passed from individual to individual and eventually trashed when it reached someone with enough authority to ignore it "officially".

I would also recommend talking to the individual first and letting them know you are considering complaining about them, to give them a chance to change before possibly costing them their jobs.

Sorry,Frank, I respectfully disagree. I don't have a beef with individuals, because it is not their fault they were not taught how to do their jobs properly. I have been playing at the Palms, several times a week, for a few years, and my intent was to make a blanket indictment! The drink service for us fleas playing out on the floor is lousy compared to every other place where I play.
The buffet at the Palms got better after many people complained.

Did Spock plagarize the Bible? I never watched Star Trek much. Is this a joke that went over my head?

I see your point. You feel the issue lies in bad training. I believe that is possibly very valid.

Draft something up. I'll get it into the right hands.

I also applaud your ability not to blame an individual for an endemic issue where people were the product of their environment.

Usually, I'm the one reasonable one pointing out situations like this. You have clearly out reasonable-ed me.

Yes Spock was quoting the bible:

In 2268, Spock, quoting from the Sermon on the Mount, compared tribbles to "lilies of the field... they toil not, neither do they spin." (TOS: "The Trouble with Tribbles")

I thought it was funnier to attribute it to Spock as a subtle joke.

Here on vpFREE I often feel like Daniel in the lion's den, you know that story McCoy talked about in the episode "The Gamesters of Triskelion".

Cheers,

~FK

P.S. If it was over your head, it only means you have a life.

Never!!! I have asked and there are no plans to ever remove the 5/9 Deuce progressive at the Palms. It has been there since day 1 and they consider it a fixture.

This comes to me directly from the Slot Director. I also asked him to let me know if that changes.

~FK

Right, that slot director owns the other 80%? I once asked my Union President about changes in the company, and he swore up and down it wasn't going to happen. It did a month later.

I would bet that Mr. Maloof has heard about this issue. He is often out on the floor, and is responsive to his patrons. For example, the "music" is no longer headache-inducing loud.

There might be a problem with lack of coverage during shift chamges and breaks.

For all I know, George M is working on the problem. It doesn't concern me any more, I bring my own water with me. Also, I don't bring my many out of town visitors there anymore. I won't be embarrased again by the 90 minute waits for drink service. On one occasion, the bartender took pity on me and gave me drinks to take to my guests. Other times, I have given up and gone to the bar to buy drinks, which isn't fair, considering how much these knuckleheads lose.

Oh, and my spouse and I tip well, and have a good relationship with the slot personnel. We always tipped the servers, even if we had to wait a long time, and never complained or tried to make these young ladies feel bad.

From my casual, unscientfic observations, it seems that many servers take just a handful of orders before returning to the service bar. That is inefficent, and it is a shame that it costs the girls, as they'll end up with less tip money at the end of their shift.
