I chose the Borgata because the place was top class in food and
overall appearance. The stickler is they are among the least generous
when it comes to slot dollars and all other offers. There is no cash
back at all.

If you put thru $500K annually suggets you seek out a host at the

I was told more than once that there were no personal hosts. Of

A reality check, BS ...
Borgata is obviously, by far, the most premium casino in AC. Casino
resources are principally dedicated to the highest value players and
at Borgata the bar is set higher than the others.
That "value" is measured not by total expected annual profit from the
player, but instead expected profit per day on the property. A player
who gives them 1/5 of the total play per year, but puts it in over 2
or 3 days a year will see much greater attention than you will (this
is true at any casino).
At Borgata, hosts have among the least discretion of any AC casinos
when it comes to low to mid-level players such as yourself. For their
moderately strong players they can arrange for room upgrades and
squeeze a player into the hotel when a room otherwise might not be
available, but little else.
Borgata does have "personal hosts". It sounds like you inquired about
one and were denied based upon your play level. (Bear in mind that
marty, "hman", has in the past reported playing $2 machines and games
other than JB -- play that a casino will value much more strongly than
yours.)
However, as marty separately suggests, if you need consideration that
a host might assist you with, seek out a floor host in the high limit
slot area. However, I'd expect there would be little that they can
offer in the way of additional comps.
The key benefit you should look for in your Borgata play is
qualification for a Black Label card. Access to the most attractive
standard AC player club ($10 comp charge - similar to T.Plaza) and
entry to the finest AC buffet at a reduced $10 fee for Black Label
cardholders present the strongest standing comp value on your play in AC.
Black Label qualification is $1000 in earned comp dollars annually.
While the comp rate is on the slimmer side, if you dedicate the the
large body of your stated annual play there you shouldn't have any
problem.
Alternatively, you can earn a premium card from another casino,
against which Borgata will upgrade your card. At Harrah's, $100K of
annual coin-in will earn such a card (Diamond).
