I, too, grew up where they play Euchre. I got pretty
good at it and I still play it when I visit up north.
I had a great Geometry teacher in High School who let
us play cards when we completed our homework and he
checked it. There were 4 of us who played about 20
minutes a day in his class - he never knew we played
for cash because we kept a tally. (Hey, now that I
think about it, Dana still owes me some money!) I
also remember playing cards with a chaparone at a
school dance and taking him for a few bucks.
I played poker with the guys as we sometimes do.
Nothing big, just for fun mostly.
I stayed the night in Vegas the first time about 12
years ago (at the Motel 6 - no good VP there) but I
didn't play anywhere because I had to drive to El Paso
the next day.
My first real gambling trips were two years ago when
my wife and I went to Vegas; once for our 2nd
honeymoon and once for her business. We had a ball.
I didn't know squat about VP (or any other game for
that matter). My wife has a knack for winning at the
slots - and she just about paid for the trips that
way. I played and lost.
Now, I've been watching TC, reading up, learning from
you folks here, practicing a lot. Next time I get the
chance I think I'll be ready!
