How does one get a "Gift Point" at Peppermill

I would like to win a Sony PSP, but I have no clue as to how to obtain
a gift point.

a gift point.

Gift points are one of the many different things you can get from the daily card swipes. Gift points can be redeemed at the gift shop or boutique directly for face value (1 gift point = $1) when purchasing things, or can be redeemed for the "special" gift point items. Gift points seem to expire 13 months after you do the swipe that awards them, so you will have to visit frequently and do a lot of card swipes over a year to accumulate enough points for any of the higher end items. As with Mr. Money's Challenge, play level seems to affect the average and maximum gift points you earn on a swipe. While most often when we've seen gift points, it's been 3, 4, 5 or 6 gift points, occasionally a much bigger number like 20, 30 or 40 can come out. Gift points from different people can be combined at the shops, and I would assume for the "special" items as well. The person(s) awarded the gift points must be present to sign the tickets when redeeming them.

I don't know if this is a change. A gift point coupon I received
yesterday says, "Gift Points CANNOT be combined with discounts, comps
or offers...Only Joint Account Members may combine Gift Point coupons"

Part timer did a great job listing the prizes. Here's a couple more:
Free play in weekly slot tournament
$5 off BJ tournament entry.
$5 off Pai Gow Poker Tournament entry

I've also noticed that the longer you swipe without otherwise using
your card, the crappier the prize received. You don't necessarily
have to play. Getting a meal comp seems to reset for good prizes.

Is it my imagination, or has anyone else found that it has become
increasingly difficult to score significant free play on the Mr. Money
Challenge?

Part of the text is new. I had mis-stated earlier, looking back, even old gift point cards stated that only joint account members could combine gift points.

In the same vein, the coffee shop will no longer allow you to combine coupons from the quarterly sheet with other coupons or comps. This combined with the removal of match play and Mr. Money's Challenge coupons, and the quarterly coupon sheet is now almost worthless.

Right, I forgot about those. In addition we've seen 20%-40% discounts to the gift shop (max value of $20-$40). I'm sure there are others I forgot as well.

I can't comment on this. We go through streaks of good and weak swipes, and I've never correlated them specifically to anything. You may be on to something, though, I'll try to pay more attention (I hadn't thought about non-play card uses).

This has been very streaky for us. Just over a week ago (last time I was there) I had several good plays (towards the higher end of what we've gotten) on Mr. Money's Challenge and a couple of weaker plays. Again I haven't correlated it to anything in particular. However, we rarely get plays on Mr. Money's that are as bad as those that we usually see other people get. I'm surmising that the correlation is based mostly on play level, but can't be certain of that. Our results don't seem to correlate strongly with recent play.

As usual, "Part Timer" (our Full Time authority on the PEPP and ALL
things Reno!) has hit the nail squarely on the head.

Last June, while staying at PEPP for 5 days, I managed to accumulate
$48.00 in (3) gift cards. I was able to use all 3 gift cards on the
same item, to purchase a very nice shirt for EH, in the gift shop.
My total out of pocket expense for the shirt was less than $2.00.

Several years ago when the cards received for daily swiping were
different (and IMO, much better) EH swiped his player's card one
morning, and received a card stating he would receive an "additional
$100.00 for any Royal Flush." He derisively handed me the card,
saying, "I'd rather get one for $10.00 off at the Coffee Shop. At
least that would be worth something."

We then sat down to play for a few minutes before breakfast, at my
favorite bank of M/G machines (LONG GONE) that had FPDW AND FPJW!
On the second hand of JW, I drew to RF4 in Spades, and popped the
royal! EH was speechless! Since we both play on the same card, it
was no problem to collect my $1100. Since EH was losing and I was
ahead, I gladly gifted him with $500 of my nice win. I kept the
extra Bennie!

Oh for the Good Old Days!
