Gilbert, if it works for you then keep doing it your way. I venture to say
if we strapped you down to a chair and had Bob teach a one person video poker
class just for you, with Shirley threatening you with a whip and Chairman
Babe grabbing you by the shoulders, shaking you, yelling "NOW DO YOU
UNDERSTAND??", you would still end up doing it your way.

I'm not saying your way is good or bad, it's just how people are. You could
go up to everybody playing a short pay Jacks or Better based VP game in a
casino and ask them "high pair or three to a royal" they would all say "The
mathematically correct hold is the high pair" but if you watched them play you'd
see them go for it once in a while, if you know what I mean. Everybody knows
it's high pair over three to a royal. I remember back in the late 60's seeing
my very first video poker machines at the Fremont and going to the gift shop
to buy the little booklet giving a strategy, bingo, high pair over three to a
royal. Casinos would not be able to give away cash back, free food and cars
if every unskilled player played the 96.8 to 98.8% return games perfectly. So
I guess, keep on not studying on a computer program like Frugal, WinPoker,
VPSM or Bob's new one and keep on hitting royals holding the three.

BTW, the Jacks error you like to make is about equal to drawing five new
cards when dealt four to an inside straight in Deuces. You see tons of unskilled
players making that mistake. A good friend of mine makes it as a matter of
strategy. Her reasoning? "It never fills in to a straight so why should I hold
it?"
