How do I calculate the return on this game?

Hello, all -

I've run into a game with a horrid paytable, but with a high return for
a dealt royal. I know that the frequency of a dealt royal is around 1
in 650,000 but I don't know how to determine the amount the dealt royal
will contribute to the ER.

It's a quarter triple-play Super Double bonus with a progressive on the
three royals that's around $23,000. The paytable is 8/5 instead of
9/5, so it yields only about 98.68% (plus .20% cashback).

I haven't been able to figure out how much to add so that I can run the
game on WP or VPW. Dividing the $23,000 by 650,000 gives me .03538,
but I don't know where to go from that number. Any help in determing
if the game's worth playing would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

You have the right idea! The numerator s/b $20000 not $23000 as the
normal royals would be $3000. 20000/649740=3.08% which makes the game
a juicy 101.76% but highly volatile. Note the 8 on FH means you keep
all high pairs rather than two pair.

You forgot to divide the $20,000 by the $3.75 bet, making the dealt royal
contribution only 0.82%. Not so juicy after all.

A helpful sanity check --- for a meter to add 1% to game ER, the meter
climb must equal 1% of the wagers expected run during one dealt hand
cycle.

For a RF and n-play: 649740 bets. If $.25 3-play, then 1% = $24365.

In round numbers, you can guestimate the EV added by the RF meter (in
fractions of 1%) on a 3-play $.25 game by dividing the meter advance
over reset by $25000.

Thanks, Howard, Cogno, and Harry! I knew I should have paid more
attention in statistics class.

I made a huge mistake in what I said earlier. That 3.08% needs to be
divided by 3.75 for the per play cost so it omly adds about 0.82% so at
99.5% + 0.2% cb it is not so good!
