How bad is it at Aliante Station???

It's down to this:

We are president card holders there, we've run more than a quarter million dollars through their lonely VP machines within the last 90 days, and we were REFUSED a comp for two measly buffets yesterday.

"Not enough in your account...sorry," was the response from the clueless host.

In discussing the comp situation at Aliante Station with friends, we've discovered that the cutbacks are deep and wide: Many of our friends left for greener pastures at other casinos, and no wonder...

PIPS is already closed, several of the food court outlets are dead, and still management does its best to drive off good players. How long before the entire place is shuttered?

A quarter of a million dollars and no buffet comps???

Absurd.

I have never played at Aliante and can't comment on your shabby treatment other than to say that you deserve better.

The reason I do comment, however, is because I faced a similar situation at another property. My coin-in was about one-third of yours. But the losses, which were how most trips ended up, were horrendous.

An executive host would usually apologize but offer no explanation. I did make a phone call or two to casino marketing higher-ups. Once again I got no satisfactory responses.

So, finally throwing in the towel and moving on, I NEVER set foot in that casino other than to collect FreePlay, then immediately exit.

And I cannot describe how good that feels.

You should do the same. At your level begging for buffets is too absurd to discuss. Take your dignity and dollars elsewhere.

If you are making money from them playing nothing but positive machines PLUS taking their free play why should they give you so much as a hot dog?
And why would you expect it?
If you want comps head to the Strip and play their negative games.

I am suprised they didn't tell you to use your points, with a 75% discount using points for the buffet, why would you not use points and save your comps for something else?

Even though this last response is not what you want to hear, he is correct. Remember many casinos look at your losses and wins to determine comp value. If you only play positive machines and you're ahead you shouldn't expect anything. In fact even if your a loser on these positive games you're still going to have a hard time getting comps. If you really want comps at a Station casino you need to throw other games of chance on your play list. If you keep up on the latest Station financial situation you will also note that Aliante is one of their biggest losers. Cash flow is less than half of what it needs to be and they are not going to make it worse by handing out comps to non profitable players. I never play for comps or expect them. This gets rid of the pressure of having to play enough or to impress the suits. If I cant pay for my own food then I shouldn't be out running around in a casino.

How about if you mix say 5% of your gambling on "on other games of chance" which in this example would increase the casino's edge on your total action. Comps are about more than food. It includes invites to tourneys, drawings as well as freeplay. That should be included in expectations. I agree food can be particularly abused by gamblers.

Uh, not exactly. That really doesn't look at the "whole picture". A host explained it to me.

Casinos do consider losses. And, in general, you will get more from them on a losing trip than if you win.

But that doesn't mean you get nothing for considerable play if you're lucky on a given day. Even positive games from time to time can soak a player and turn sour, and casinos know that. If you get lucky, they still want you to come back.

On a winning day hosts look at other criteria, since net loss data isn't applicable. Much of what they consider involves time played, denomination, etc., and you are usually entitled to SOMETHING based on that. But, perhaps not at Aliante.

The missing piece of the puzzle regarding the player's shabby "no buffets for you" treatment is what he/she might have already received. It's very possible anything available was already used up. My initial assumption was that they played, had a solid history at the property, simply asked for buffets and were denied one of the easiest things most hosts can comp.
