Housing near casinos

Actually, Jean lives in an area that might meet the "central location"
requirement. The area slightly west and south of the Palms is a good spot--decent
neighborhood, moderately priced housing (for LV), and quick access both to
the I15 (which is about two miles east) and the 215 Beltway (which is about
three miles south). And there are many apartments and condos in that area as
well, a few in gated communities. As a bonus, you would be very close to both
the Palms and the Orleans in that area.

As Jean said, moving next door to your favorite casino is asking to be
disappointed. Better to live somewhere with quick access to freeways, in a "nice"
neighborhood, and have a reliable car with good air conditioning. There are
"local friendly" casinos in all parts of Las Vegas, with the possible
exception of the southwest corner. And in a year or two, Stations will open Durango
Station in that part of town. DS will undoubtedly be another success, at least
partially because the closest competitor will be the Orleans, about seven
miles distant.

Don't buy a house just to be near one casino. Casinos are fickle and can
change radically down through the years. Remember what I've said many
times: Don't marry one casino; just have affairs with casinos that you can
break off at any time.
