Hotmail problems (XVP but related to VPFree)

I would recommend not using hotmail.com for your primary mail box. I don't use it as my primary box for VPFree, but I have VPFree messages sent here as well as to my primary account.

Messages from VPFree to my hotmail account are often delayed by hours and sometimes days. Periods of time go by where messages to my hotmail account are bounced, causing my subscription to mailing lists to be suspended and requiring me to reinstate them.

The worst thing, though, is that large numbers of messages don't make it to my hotmail account but aren't bounced back to the sender either, the worst possible outcome.

As with most other Microsoft products, I would recommend using something else if there is a viable alternative for you. I don't recall having significant problems with hotmail email accounts before Microsoft took them over.

I've had the same experience -- so I switched over to a Yahoo account, and I haven't been having the same problems.

I have had the same problems with Hotmail the past 4 months. You
are completely correct about the "worst possible outcome". It's
like a throwback to the dark ages of technology--you don't know
if you are missing emails that have been sent to you.

I've used Hotmail for at least 7 years, but the problems only
started occuring recently. (btw, Hotmail has been a Microsoft
product for at least 7 years.) I suspect the problems have
something to do with the War on Spam.

I've had the late messages received with both hotmail and yahoo email
accounts, but not with any other service.
