hotel tipping

I leave a short thank you note along with the cash.

Thank you. What a good idea. Many times when I get back
to the room my tip is still there.

The note that I always leave says "Housekeeping , Thanks" . Some Hotels have envelopes in the rooms with the housekeepers' name on it.
If so , then I just put cash in the envelope without a note.

Sometimes my tip for housekeeping would not be picked up until I
started leaving the tip on the unmadeup (Is that a word??) pillow.
Then they always know it is for them.

As for me, when I get the room serviced, I leave $2.00 in the room. About every other day, I do not get the room cleaned, and will just as for new towels and shampoo, etc. On these days, I give the maid $1.00 since she doen not have to clean the room.

I would guess that if you don't leave a note or an envelope
with "Housekeeping" or some such on it, that they will not pick up
loose money for fear of losing their job.
