Hotel room tipping

I have been told by some hotel room cleaning staff that a supervisor checks each room before and after cleaning. They believe many intended tips left for them are taken by supervisors. Maybe handing the tip directly to cleaning staff if possible would be the
best way to assure the right person gets the tip.

I stayed in Las Vegas at the Trump in March tipping $10.00 a night last night $20.00. I was again in Las Vegas in June did the same when I stayed at Palazzo. Housekeeping love it and are so very thankful. My husband worked in the hotel business when going through college he said it is the least we can do as they clean up after us. So whatever you are able to do is greatly appreciated.

We use to leave a tip in the room at the end of our stay but now leave
$5 per night. Since it is a comped room, $5/night seems reasonable.

Once while staying at the Reserve (Fiesta/Henderson) , the housekeeping
lady came running down the hall thanking us so much for the tip as we
were leaving the room. She genuinely appreciated it.

Once while staying at Sam's Town, we returned to the room and the $5 was
gone but the room wasn't cleaned. We called housekeeping that sent a
couple of people to clean up. We didn't give any more tips on that trip.
