Hotel Room Tipping

We usually tip $2 (if alone) or $3 per day, and not on the day of checkout.
Sometimes I ask for extra towels and/or glasses with a "thank you" note. I
feel the housekeeper may give a little extra attention and maybe not be
tempted to go through my things.
On our last trip, unknowingly, half my husbands wallet fell out while he was
getting dressed. We only realized this upon returning to the room and saw
his credit cards on the dresser and wondered what?? Apparently, the maid picked
them up and nicely put them in a neat pile where we were sure to find them.
We were very impressed.
Also, sometimes the maid doesn't take the tip, in which case I go down the
hall and ask if they cleaned my room. If so I give them the $$. Sometimes they
point to another maids cart and say she did it. I admire this honesty.
BTW, we don't leave a big mess.

Hi C Christy

WOW! I wouldn't expect the maids to take money, but I often
wondered. I'd be impressed.

Once I left a bunch of cash in the glove box of my car in valet. When
I thought about it, I quickly retrieved my car. Nothing was touched.
I do consider myself lucky there.

Cheers...Jeep

A few years ago, we checked into the Claridge, one of our favorites, in
Atlantic City. We left the car in valet for 3 days and only when we had
retrieved it and were heading up the Atlantic City Expressway did we realize
that the coins we had left in a pouch in the glove box were gone, as was the
pouch. There must have been $20 worth of quarters in there; this was before
Easy Pass. it was too late to do anything about it by then. Annie
