They are assigned if your play warrants it and you do not have one already.

If you have a recommendation from a friend, it is good to ask a specific host to serve as your host sometimes though your level of play or what you play may not be their area so they may turn you down.

Changing a host at a property who you do not like can sometimes be impossible or a problem that is why if there is someone you know about who is good, it is good to speak with them about being your host.

Answers lead to more questions ... I hope these will help
some "lurkers" ...

As a HET 7-Stars, when visiting a property for the first time, should
I ask to meet my assigned host, or will they be introduced to me when I
arrive. It seems awkward to me since I'll most likely need the host at
that property more than the one that has been benefiting from all the
play to get to and maintain 7-stars level.

After watching discussions in these forums, I certainly want to get to
know my local host before I run into problems, if possible. This is my
first trip as a 7-stars and my expectations are high ... with a fear of
them being trashed ...

By the way, I'm staying at Paris on the stip (in case anyone has
information on the hosts there.)
