Hello all. As someone who is neither a newbie nor a veteran (is
there a name for people like me?), I can't tell you how
extraordinarily helpful and informative the people on this board have
been. Over the past while, my purchase of Winpoker, cue cards, etc.
has boosted the return on my play considerably. I still have much to
learn but you've all been wonderful teachers. Recently I
purchased "More Frugal Gambling" a veritable treasure trove of
terrific information for folks like me. (Incidentally, Jean, I was a
huge fan before I purchased your book. Even after unwarranted
attacks from others on this board I have observed you - time and
again - respond with intelligence and grace. You are one class act,
lady.
Now to my question: In answer to the question, "Where do I find a
host?" p. 296, Jean suggests that while one may inquire at the slot
club desk, host office, etc., she states, "... the best way in my
opinion , is to stay at your machine and tell a change person or
floor person you'd like to speak to a host as soon as possible." Jean
then goes on to discuss the advantages of this maneuver. She, of
course, goes on to discuss ways in which one should build a
relationship with a host by treating them with the courtesy and
consideration they are due.
As a quarter player, I have the uneasy feeling that it would be
presumptious of me to ask for a host to come to me at my VP machine
and that we low-rollers should stick to going to the host office to
negotiate our best deal, lest we come across as too "entitled."
I wuld welcome and value opinions on this.
Thanks so much and - good fortune to all.
