Host at El Dorado?

Can anyone recommend a host at El Dordo in Reno? I’m platinum at Peppermill and Atlantis, but have been no-mailed at the Atlantis. I decided to spend a night at El Dorado to try it out. Any recs re: host or other things to watch for there will be appreciated. – Bob in San Antonio

I have found offers at the Eldorado for an out-of-town player to be negligible and what you get is the freeplay and comp amounts that you see in your account. However, there are two things I like: (1) after establishing a base amount of comps in your
account you can these choose to maximize free play or maximize comps; and (2) they will reimburse airfare and rental car out of your comp account (dollar for dollar). In addition it is just a nice property all around – nice rooms and a nice variety of restaurants
with reasonable prices and good food.

Thanks for the info, Kelso. Looking forward to trying it out.

Bob

We spoke to Linda after getting small amounts of free play in our mailer. We were pleased that she then gave us a substantially better offer. She continues to do so.

We like her, and her husband, Grant Wellington, who is our host there. They offer a lot of tournaments, too. I also like the Eldorado because they have never no mailed us for winning, as the Pep and Atlantis have.

The point multiplier days (usually Fridays) are good. If you are a VP player, I suggest you look around ;).

Thanks very much for the info. I contacted Linda Seidl and she was a huge help. She confirmed my credit application, upgraded my tier status, upgraded my room type, and offered to serve as my host. I couldn’t be happier!

Great, Thanks!

I’d appreciate some input re my pllay at Eldorado …

Up to now, have opted to lay low (given lackluster host experience at other Reno casinos … Nugget/Atlantis).

I typically check in for 1 night, playing $20k-$30k coin-in on the various progressive banks. I get $100 FSP and Player Spa suite upgrade in my mailer.

I’ve always assumed I might get an occasional gourmet room comp without using points via host contact, but since I always stay here prior to Bev joining me for the weekend in Reno/LT, I’m more than content with buffet/coffee shop on points. (I’ve recently “optimized” my points in favor of FSP.)

Anyone have experience with a host at Eldorado in similar circumstances who feels that I’m likely to fare better with a host there?

We have not needed to ask for food comps from Linda.I believe it would come out of your comp dollars, anyway. It is a difficult system to understand, and she and others have not explained it accurately to us, We were eager to optimize our freeplay, which one can do after acquiring a certain dollar amount of comps. The amount of comp dollars needed to do this depends on tier level, which is supposed to be determined by average daily points based on cumulative 3-6 day average, and average yearly points.

Although we maximized our freeplay, we have more comp dollars continuing to accrue, and use them at the wonderful restarants. We have more than we can easily use each trip, before they expire.

The Players Club and host office did not know about the free buffets we get according to card level. For example, as Premier card holders, the pamphlet states that we get a free buffet on Tuesday and on Friday,

but the employees at the buffet let us know that we are entitled to one more each week, at any time. So, VP Wiz, you may not need to use comp dollars if you are eating at the buffet.

Best I can tell, by default, of all the dollars they reward you, 70% goes to comps and 30% goes to free play. If you "optimize for free play", then once you hit the prerequisite comp balance for your tier, these numbers are reversed, giving you 70% FP and 30% comps.

I have also found this system to be confusing and frustrating since like others, I always seem to have a hard time spending my comp balance and wish I could just play it off as free play.

I never seem to earn diddly squat for comp dollars at Eldorado…same with Silver Legacy…but at Legacy, if you play UTH, they seem to rate it WELL for a $5 player…but best I get playing vP at Eldorado is like $10 TOPS (of course, I never play more than maybe $5k coin-in…too scared to dump the amount it takes to get 7*, at a SINGLE property with no sisters)
