Horseshoe in Shreveport, in addition to adding many playable games
at 99.5%+ is paying cash back on vp at .5% instead of the old .25%.
It is a little complicated but here is how it works since they have
blended with the Total Rewards system:
There are TR tier points and then there are Horseshoe CB points.
Say you sit down to play and have 0 Horseshoe points. You put your
card in the machine and it says you have 0 points. You begin
playing and occasionally the screen will show how many points you
have earned and what the countdown is.
These points are tier points for TR, not Horseshoe points.
Say you finish up with 1000 points = $10,000 coin in just like any
other Harrah's.
You take your card out and put it in again, the welcome message
flashes and then it says you have 2000 points - these are Horseshoe
points. Since 200 points = $5, you have now earned $50 instant cash
back = .5% of the 10k coin in.
You don't earn any rewards points at all on the Harrah's system,
fine with me, I'll take the .5% cash.
For comps there is a second "back screen" in the system. They
don't/won't tell you how much you have available in specific
amounts.
You have to go and ask for what you want, ie dinner, buffets or
whatever, they will then tell you if you have enough. Very gray and
undefined. My host told me just come to her and she'll take care of
anything big I may want.
A good approach is to charge everything to room and have them take
it off at checkout - they are pretty generous.
I'm not sure if this cash back rate is going to last, but all
indications are it will. The printed literature they have says you
earn 1 Horseshoe point for $5 coin in and doesn't say slots or video
poker, just coin in. The same literature talks about TR tier points
and does make a distinction between VP at $10/point and slots at
$5/point. This tells me it was intentional.
Of course, none of the booth people or even the hosts have any idea
how it all works. I asked my host over a week ago to investigate
what was going on, she had to get the games supervisor and we went
over the whole thing together, and I confirmed it all through play
this past weekend. Cashed out $500 on my way out the door (I alway
zero out my CB points when I leave each time), nice way to end a
good weekend.
Bottom line is this makes the place one of the best in Shreveport -
all they need to do is put in NSU and I'll be happy. For some
reason all the duece paytables are way short.
Best of Luck to all.
