HORSESHOE CASINO IN S. INDIANA

Doesn't have rooms. It is a riverboat. Great buffet, steakhouse and diamond
lounge food. Nothing playable when I was there a couple of months ago. Very
tight machines.

This is not correct; most (but not all, e.g. Horseshoe Hammond, which might be where the mis-information came from) riverboats have a hotel, and for most (but not all) of them, it is attached by a climate-controlled covered passageway that often (but not always) appears to be indoor-like. For Horseshoe So. IN, they have all 3: hotel, attached, looks like you're indoors.

The post about the walk is accurate; the property is pretty spread out for a riverboat. There are two parking garages, one for hotel and one for casino, but I think that driving won't reduce the total walk, as I'd guess it's still about ten min. total from hotel to hotel parking and casino parking to hotel.

I'm not sure what is meant by "very tight machines"; VP is not tight or non-tight; it either has good paytables or it doesn't.

I know there is LOTS of $1 9/6 Jacks or Better there, as far as I know all on level one (go down a couple flights once you board). There is cash back on your play too, but not enough to make much of an impact or to offset the small casino edge; comps are a little more generous than the cash-back, but again, probably not enough to make an impact. If you play there a couple times (or maybe because I'm Diamon), it appears you will get a long duration of offers without returning, which include very small cash vouchers, but many free-room offers, and if the free room is not sufficient (it's often a single night for as many un-connected nights as you want), a call to a host can often extend the room comp.
