We visited the Horseshoe from May 7 - 9, 2006. Pleasantly surprised
by the good VP -- good by Louisiana standards, and good by Harrah's
standards!
All on 1st floor (down the escalator, same floor as poker room)
Quarter only -- NSUD, 9/6 JOB, 8/5 BP, 9/7/5 DB, in Game King slant
tops, just inside entrance to 1st floor from escalator
Just visited Horseshoe in Bossier City over the past weekend. All
of these good machines are still there. Left bank of machines upon
entering the 1st floor from the escalator. The right bank of
machines look the same, but are short-pays.
Also of note, I found by accident that there are also $1 8/5 BP
machines near the back wall of the 1st floor on the back side of the
poker room (straight in, left and the machines are opposite of the
back wall). They are "hidden" in a sense because they are multi-
denomination machines and the pay tables for the other denoms are
short-pays. But you can select Bonus Poker, hit $1 for denom and
they are true 8/5 BP just like the machines by the entrance. I
didn't try the other games, so some of the others may also be good
paytables as well.
I loaded one of the $1 BP up with $200 in credits, and played through
at 5 credits per hand and damned if I didn't get 4-to-the-Royal 5
separate times!!! But of course it didn't come in.... lol. Got
it up to $250 twice, but felt that the Royal was soooo close.... so
of course I stayed until it went to $0.
BTW, for the new Harrah's/Horseshoe patrons, they have a deal going
right now where you can sign up for the Player's Club and over the
first 24 hours they will send you a voucher for up to $100 in losses
playing on the machines. So, you can take a shot on your 1st day,
and if you lose at least you can get $100 back in the mail.
