Horizon Lake Tahoe tournaments

I play as many tournaments as I can. I like the tournaments to be fair but
often you find that there is a local bias. Most of the time this bias is
negligible but sometimes it is pronounced.

Horizon has 2 small, weekly tournaments which are in this category:

Mon VP Tournament: This is a 10-min speed tournament. Since it's on the
low-variance JB, luck factor is reduced & therefore a high hph is a bigger factor
than in most tournaments. Even though I'm a part-time player, my speed is
high enough so that I've monied in almost every one I've entered. Credits start
at 3000 & best players can play it down to 1000. I've asked that they set it
to a fairer 1000 or 1500 start but locals want it left alone I'm told.

Tue/Thu BJ Tournament. This is another tournament that I've done well at.
This tournament used to be like any other BJ tournament as far as rules went &
100% of entries were paid out which is still the case. Recently they had a
rule change which really caught me by surprise. Before, the tournament director
would not allowing any kibitzing from the crowd. Now it's allowed! I believe
locals put a lot of pressure on to get the rules changed. In any case, I'm
going to do my best to get it changed back.

BTW, Harrahs Millionaire Maker VP Tournament (next one 12/3) is a speed vp
tournament. If you're fast, enter. If you're not, pass & enter the one in Las
Vegas which is not a speed tournament.
