Hoping For A Short Cut

Not long ago, I read that using Jacks strategy for 10-7 DB yields a return not too far below the expected yield of perfect DB strategy.

<snip>

DB departures from Jacks strategy:

He holds:
  - a 4 card straight instead of a low pair
  - a 4 card flush vs. a 3 card royal (unless the royal draw is TJQ or JQK)
  - an inside straight with 1 or 2 unsuited hi cards vs. 1 or 2 unsuited hi cards
  - a 3 card flush, 1 hi card vs. 1 hi card
  - 3 Aces vs. an Aces-up full house

Breaking an Aces full house is NOT correct unless 4 Aces are on a progressive meter and pay more than 805 coins. At 800 the full house is the correct hold.

Not according to WinPoker or any other source I've ever seen.

For 10/7 DB, holding the trip Aces has an EV of 50.54 (with 800 for
quad Aces) vs. a 50 EV for the FH.

I'm not sure what the basis of your calculation is. Perhaps it
reflects a non max-EV strategy? :slight_smile:

No, he's thinking of breaking up two pair to hold just two aces I
think.

Makes sense. I've been guilty of some far more egregious slips :slight_smile:
