Just recevied in the mail $200 free slat play for new members at
Hooters. Has anybody taken advantage of this.
The small print says cash prizes are only awarded for the top prize???

It's a scam. You don't get $200, you get 200 credits on a promotional
machine. I estimate the EV at around $6.

You should contact the gaming control board with the details as if what you say is true their is a violation as free slot play with any machines except old machines grandfathered in would mean machines with at least the the state required 75% minimum payback.

I like to be cheated out of a bit more than $200 before I call Gaming. You
go ahead though.
On the other hand, the place is about to close so it's probably not worth
anyone's effort.

The promo machines are $2 machines. So, you only get 100 credits for $200.
I've played these machines once a month since November. Sometimes, it
takes only a few minutes to blow through the credits. Sometimes, it takes
longer. The longest I played was an hour and 15 minutes....and won zip.
You play until one of three things happen:
1) You win the top prize ($1,000) by lining up the top symbols
2) You win the 2nd prize ($100) by getting the 2nd to top jackpot
3) You accumulate 1,700 credits on the meter (which gets you $50)
I estimate the EV at around zero.

Somehow I don’t think gaming is interested in the “payback” pct. of a
totally free promotion.

Very good point, Randy!
The Hooters "free play" offer is no different than the
"free pull on the $1,000,000 slot machine" offered at
various other casinos. Either way, it costs you nothing
and you will probably win nothing.

To me, "free pull" and "$200 free" are quite different.

I also agree that they are different. Bait and switch is the first
thought that jumps into my head. Credibility is important. Hooters
management treats their customers as suckers. This is quite blatant
with this misleading promotion. Their headliner insults their
customers and their employees are allowed to participate in the
promotions competing against customers. Is it any surprise that the
new owners want to change the name of the casino?

While no fan of hooters isn't this all
a little excessive? I think anyone
with 2 functioning neurons sees this
promotion for what it is. $200 free play
on machines where the likelihood of winning
is very low. Why search for nuance here or
complain about it? It happens all over town
and is a tourists lure. Aren't the
members of this board a little more
sophisticated than that? All they're taking fron
you is your time. EV=$0, move on.

I appreciate this discussion about the Hooters promotion, since I received one of these mailers (I have no idea why, and my partner didn't get one). I had not read the fine print. Thanks to this forum, I tossed the mailer rather than go there. Thanks! Saved me a trip.
