There was some chatter here a while ago about Hollywood setting a 6
month limit on Marquee status, with a 900 point threshold for
maintaining it. Well, they made good on their promise with me this
week, and you should be aware of how poorly conceived their system is
so you don't get nailed by it.
I learned after the fact that my anniversary date was April 16th. So
I had from Oct 16, 2003 to April 16, 2004 to earn 900 points. Well, I
didn't play there during the fall and winter, but... I earned 522
points in February and 135 points in March. I returned Monday (April
19th) to complete my 900 points, earning 468 points for a total of
over 1000 points in the last 3 months.
I got my cashback and it was 0.5%, Screen Test level. I went to the
VIP desk only to find another woman ahead of me complaining of the
same thing. We were both referred to Customer Service. The boothling
could only tell me that my February points expired April 16 and I
would have to earn 432 more points to get back my Marquee Status.
We called the supervisor, Mary Lynn, and she held the party line
while I explained that if I had been a totally new customer in
February they would be handing me a Marquee card right now, and that
this system effectively punished established players. I must say that
it was additionally aggravating that I had missed the unannounced
deadline by only three days. When she wouldn't/couldn't budge, I
asked for a host override.
Mary Lynn stayed on the phone about 15 minutes on my behalf and
eventually announced that I had been given permanent Marquee status.
After that gift, I didn't even try to get back the difference in
cashback (about $25). But I told her she would get a lot of grief for
this policy, or more accurately, the poor programming that didn't
include a rolling qualification window or some kind of player
notification. The other woman who had the same complaint had already
stormed off, vowing never to return.
So there it is: Hollywood has a new and treacherous policy. But with
enough beligerence, you can get a positive resolution to the
situation. Hollywood managers proved both flexible and reasonable.
