Does anyone have interest in table poker?
I recently studied Hold'em, and it's quite popular
due to televised celebrity and World Poker Tours.
Viejas, Sycuan, and Barona all run cardrooms.
For tournament play, though, I think Viejas is
running the most.
February - Basic (beginer?) 'no-limit' tournaments on-going
on Weds. at 6:30 for $12. No rebuys.
$1200 prize to top 9 (or 18 if > 199 players).
I've see a full room there, over 20 tables in play for TOURNAMENT
only. After the tourney, they even offer a $1/2 and $2/4 table for
players hanging around.
Bigger ones include $25 on Saturdays, with 1 rebuy.
Sunday/Monday special leading up to World Poker Tours,
are offering top winners a chance to get a seat.
These are for serious players, with buy-ins from $60-$100.
As I discover more info. on this overlooked gaming option,
I'll post. My main concerns are the 'house-rake' in these games,
and the overall playing atmosphere.
I've enjoyed a few tournaments, but haven't gotten the right
cards yet. As blinds get higher, it's tough to keep playing,
without trying to win a table pot.
Other promo:
Bob Eubanks is coming to Sycuan mid-March.
Daily scratchcards will be distributed starting Feb. 16,
with potential to win various prizes.
Ongoing Daily 'reel' slot tourney (think Plaza in downtown LV).
You only get ONE play of 5 min. per day, though,
and it's only held on Tuesday evenings 6-10pm,
or Fridays 2-6pm afternoons.
Top 10 high scores pay from $50 up to $500, with contigency
rules for ties. TOP DAILY winners go on to a bigger
finale tournament in late May.
These are some of the better promos that I've seen in a while.
Martin.
PS - Viejas also has a new 'bonusing' kiosk swipe card.
It is only run during special times. They just completed
8 days of Chinese New Year giveaways.
I'll try and post the next promo. This one was quite short;
At Christmas, they ran a 12 days of Christmas promo over 3 weeks.
Usually, the bonus gifts are small (mugs, $5 cash, meals) and
are for those who visit MON-Thurs: so they are trying to get
more visitor/players to come out on weeknights.
However, I did win a free table PaiGow tournament entry.
Maybe that might qualify as a pretty good gift, should I
do well in the tournament.
