hijacked planes to Las Vegas?

I fear them both, but consider the difference. Al Qaeda can kill hundreds or even thousands of people and cause billions of dollars damage in isolated parts of the country, but our own government can take away every American's freedom. That's the freedom of about 280,000,000 people, including you (whoever you are) and me.

Al Qaeda can directly hurt less than one tenth of one percent of the population, but the response hurts us all.

Consider a somewhat similar situation. Only a small percentage of video poker players can beat the casinos over the long run, but Station Casinos is using this as an excuse to retaliate against all video poker players.

I think it is quite possible to retain our basic and traditional freedoms and still defend the country from Al Qaeda. But why does Dan think that Al Qaeda is limited to killing thousands, when we have already caught one U.S. citizen involved in a dirty bomb plot, and they have access to nuclear technology from Iran and Pakistan?

It's very difficult for me to take you seriously when you compare terrorism
and our constitutional freedoms to video poker and Stations policy. I would
be very interested in knowing what freedoms the United States government has
taken away from you while attempting to protect all the residents and
visitors. How have you been hurt by our governments response to terrorism?
Does our government not have an obligation and a duty to defend this country
in a time of war? Jihad is a declared war in the name of Allah that has
been declared upon all "infidels" , that is non-believers of Islam and the
Muslim faith. Countless millions both within and outside of our borders are
therefore at risk of losing both their lives and their freedom. AL-Qada can
directly effect and harm 90+% of the citizens not only of our country but of
the world who are not members of their faith.
