At GVR and I imagine any Vegas casino you can "buy" tickets to put in
the machine. Inserting a 5k ticket is much nicer than 50 $100 bills
when playing a large denomination ticket.
Thanks for this info - is this done at the cashier's cage in most places, or is it a VIP service that requires a host, or prior approval, or something? Even when I'm playing at the $2 3-play level, I wouldn't mind going to the cage to get a $2K or $3K ticket instead of feeding money in repeatedly (esp. since most bill acceptors are so slow and finicky -- even though I'm not a super-high-roller, I value my time).
I played at a casino, I think in Spokane WA area, where the machines did not have bill acceptors, but there were ATM-style machines where you fed in your money (so you still have to stick it in a machine) and got a ticket to use at the TITO machines. It was interesting because it was the first time I'd seen it, AND because it delayed the players from playing (IF there was a line at the machine) even more than feeding in cash at the VP machine.
Also, I've played (once) poker on the new PokerTek tables, and you load your players' card at the cashier, and have a PIN to deposit the money at the table to buy in for whatever portion you want - I think that someday THAT will be the wave of the future for slots -- go to the cashier, load cash value onto your players' card, and then use that to play with instead of cash.
I'm sure there are objections and problems, but personally, I think it would be a step forward from TITO, which is certainly a step forwartd, in my opinion, from coin and token machines.
