VPFree administrator, can you post this?

The New Jersey assembly is expected to vote on the clean
indoor air act tomorrow. They will also decide whether to
exempt casinos, as the state senate did, or include them. If
you want clean air in the casinos, please click on the link
below and voice your opinion, whether or not you live in NJ.
Thanks in advance

New Jersey to Vote on Smokefree Workplace Law Question
remains whether casino gambling floors will be included

On January 5, the NJ Assembly Health Committee is expected
to vote on smokefree workplace legislation. It is unknown
if the Assembly will include or exempt casino gambling
floors. The NJ Senate voted to exempt casino gambling
floors when it passed a similar bill a few weeks ago.

Dozens of casino employees have written to the legislature
explaining how constant exposure to secondhand smoke on the
casino floor has damaged their health and contributed to the
early death of their colleagues.

As one casino employee writes, "Twenty years ago when a lot
of us started in the business, the risks of 2nd hand smoke
were not known. Now that we have children, mortgages and
larger responsibilities, changing jobs is not an option. We
deserve the same representation and protection as ALL other
NJ residents."

Unfortunately, an exemption is likely as the Atlantic City
casino industry (which is lobbying for an exemption) is
thought by many to have substantial influence over the New
Jersey legislature.

Casinos in neighboring Delaware have been happily smokefree
for three years.

Smoking *can* be done in a casino, safely.
