Heads up Texas Hold 'Em video poker game

I have seen this game in a few casinos, often near the poker room. Is there a list anywhere of all casinos that this game can be found in? Also, are these comped as slot machines or video poker?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

John

At MGM and Sands properties at least you get nothing for playing them. I wouldn't even put my players card in a machine.

Dan Druff used to play this game to make 7 Stars. Top poker players said the game was beatable but wasn't offered in high enough stakes to keep them interested.

There is a 2013 nytimes article about this game. I couldn't get the link to work so google The Steely, Headless King Of Texas Home 'Em if you want to read it. There was a gambler, Michael Reed, profiled in the article as one of those beating the game. After the article appeared, Reed posted this about the game on 2 + 2:

"What the writer didn't get into in the article was the matter of comps, and I estimate those were worth more than the rate that was actually beating the game off the top. ....the machine at most of the casinos at first was set to "reel slots rate" ' which meant it was giving you roughly the same theoretical loss as it would you spinning a $100 Blazing 7's slot machine. If you played a $600 20/40 pot, it gave you credit for $300 coin in. To casino hosts you looked like the biggest slot degen in the building, and the discretionary comps were amazing. In two weeks I had 7 Stars at Caesar's, Chairman at Stations, Emerald at Coasts, and Platinum at Cosmopolitan. For almost a full year I was receiving 5-8K every month in combined freeplay from the casinos, as well as free suites and basically unlimited RFB anywhere in town for my entire stay.

I haven't been to Vegas in months as I've been back to grinding online full time from Canada. My opinion on the machine now is that the latest few software updates has fixed the few leaks it had as well as the absence of comps make it not worth the effort to fly out and play it anymore. I still consider it beatable and I will play it the next time I'm in Vegas, but as far as everyday grind my time in better spent online where I don't have to wear pants."
