Headed to Harrah's

A few weeks ago the best VP I found at Harrah's was 8-5 JOB.
Isle of Capri has some 9-6 JOB coin droppers. The non-smoking section is supposed to have 4 decent pay machines, but they were all in use when I was there.
Ameristar was supposed to have a couple of decent pay machines against the wall near the buffet, but the available ones weren't when I was there.
Argosy is supposed to have some decent pay machines in the VP area but I never found them. And I looked. And looked. I forgot to look in the high limit area, the ones there are probably easier to find.
Since decent VP ( note I say decent -not necessarily - full pay ) machines are so hard to find, perhaps we should be recording the machine location designators and serial numbers on those machines to make it possible for others to find them without having to search for an hour.

The 2 Ameristar 9/6 JOB 5 plays are gone. what I'm guessing, since
the are running a 4X points play in August, they didn't want the
pro's to come in a make a killing.

I hope they bring them back next month, I like the Ameristar but If
it doesn't have FP machines, it's going be hard for me to play there.

I wouldn't hold my breath. Based on past experience, we have seen the
last of the 5-play machines. Too bad, we also liked to play at
Ameristar.

The 9/6 JoB, 8/5 Bonus machines are still in Argosy. There are 3 or 4
in the high limit area and another 10 or so in the VP area. The games
you are looking for can be difficult to find. Each machine is
multi-game, multi-denomination, multi-play which means they have 30 to
40 different combinations. The JoB and Bonus full pay are in 3-play,
$1 combination (and maybe 5-play as well). The machines have stars on
the front and say something like "USA". I will try to get more
details next visit.

Thanks for the input folks. I will take it easy and make sure I have
fun. I figured short pay was the rule these days at Harrah's but I
have birthday comps and other comps to use so Harrah's it is. I am not
all that comfortable with many games so I will probably be hopping
around. My wife likes the slots so we hope to relax and play a
little. I need to study and practice quite a bit more before our trip
to Vegas the end of November.
Thanks again,
Bill

I doubt Ameristar is only taking the games out for a month during the
promo. Besides 9/6 JOB with .4166% cash is just about break even, not
a pros dream at all, especially with their very poor mailers. Someone
might think it is better than nothing, but certainly not something to
make a killing on.
