For those with a Yahoo email account who want to stop or at least
significantly diminish all types of "bulk mail", AKA spam, from
reaching your Inbox, make sure you have "SpamGuard" enabled. This
will route a high percentage of it to a "Bulk" mail folder where it
will automatically be deleted after 30 days. You may delete it before
then with a single click of your mouse if you wish. Occasionally,
solicited email may unintentionally be routed there, so I
periodically check the contents of the folder to see what's there.
Email newsletters are the most common item to be routed there by
mistake. If needed, it is easy to fix any routing errors you may
discover. To me, this is a minor inconvenience compared to having to
deal with a ton of spam in my Inbox.
To see if you have "Spamguard" enabled, click on the Yahoo "Bulk"
mail folder. This will open a page telling you whether it is "on"
or "off". If it is off and you want to enable it, click on the "Turn
Spamguard ON" hyperlink and you are all set.
