I am going on one of Harrah's junkets to Harvey's Lake Tahoe next
month. The db shows nothing playable there with the possible
exception of the BP Progressive. Does this machine have a decent
progressive rate, and does it ever become positive?

Harvey's Lake Tahoe BP Progressive
About six months ago, my husband and I played the $1 BP progressive
when it was well over $6000. We were playing it fast and furious
when the only other player at the bank hit it. Dang.
(We did have a fourth player on the bank for an hour, who was playing
8-5 JOB, no bonus. I fought the temptation to give some unsolicited
advice.)
I believe the meter was at .1% then, but I can't say what it is now.
Pretty slow. In the three times I've been to Harveys since then, the
jackpot has barely been above $4000.
Also, the reward credit accumulation was minimal. Just base credits
(1 credit = $10 played) and hardly any bonus credits. After a LONG
amount of play, bonus credits start showing up, but hardly worth
mentioning.
There's also a 3-coin $1 progressive at the bar near the seafood
buffet at Harveys. IIRC, the base game is plain ol' 8-5 JOB, with
progressives on quads, the straight flush, and the royal. I have
seen the progressives on the straight flush and royal get close to
positive, but never over.
We also went over to Harrah's Lake Tahoe in December and played some
Triple Play $1 NSUD. I heard on this forum recently that those
machines aren't there anymore? The reward credit accumulation on
those machines was minimal as well, so I'm not exactly crying if
they're gone now.
The bar at Harrah's near those machines (in the middle of the casino)
also had a progressive on two seats near the end, but I'm vague on
the details. (Sorry vpFree!) Maybe it was a 10-coin machine? I
remember analyzing the play, thinking that with the progressive it
was a more positive game than NSUD, but too rich for my blood. The
bartender said that the royal on that progressive gets quite large,
such that it gets into positive range. Anyway, maybe it's worth a
peek, if you want to hop on the variance rollercoaster.
You are entitled to a coupon sheet every day, which includes a coupon
for a free $1 slot pull. Bring coupon to the cage and they hand you
$1. Sometimes there is a massage discount in the coupon sheet as
well, but last I checked it was only good Mon-Thurs. The rest of the
coupons aren't worth much. (I keep holding out hope that they will
put matchplays back in the coupon sheet. Sigh.)
If you like massages, I recommend Jesse Ramos at Harrah's. Magic
hands.
Anyway, enjoy all the Diamond amenities and the nice rooms! I really
like everything about the place, so that's why I'm always trying to
find something playable there.
