Harry, your bottom line said it all: "There's no need for a VP Player Protection Agency".

I like to read about different opinions and weigh them carefully if they match my own and if I can learn something new. But after this evaluation, I want to play what I want to play, and if I want to play like Rob Singer, I play like Rob Singer. And that is that.

What I don't like is when a person gets called "sleazy" or "foolish" in our group when he doesn't conform to the opinion of the majority. Maybe in the past he may have written something offending others. But retaliating in the same manner or worse gets us deeper and deeper in the muck.

Freedom of Opinion is ALWAYS the freedom of Other Opinions.

Well, it is of course foolish to proceed with a mathematically unsound
betting strategy hoping to make a profit. And it is sleazy to lie. But I
wouldn't call any particular person foolish or sleazy because it is against
the rules of the forum. However, it is not against the rules to point out
lies or bad mathematics.

Cogno

Learning from history is more efficient than having to listen to
every foolish notion (like martingales/progressions) that has been
proven to be bad ideas over & over in the past. There is nothing to
weigh here except anchor from a sinking ship of no value. People want
to gamble but want to skip the hard work of practicing & finding
opportunities. If all those who want to listen to Singer did both of
the above they would see the answer without the nonsense & hero
worship. System in BJ - yes. System in VP - no.

Why not have all posts moderated but not censored. The moderator(s) could change subject lines to reflect a certain thread of alternative "systems" or off topic or even Hold'em discussions. Those of us that wanted to could filter out stuff of no interest to us.

SVP inserted would reflect short coin, short pay or... that guy

HP would be for Hold'em

XVP of course for off topic

This would work only if the moderator didn't have a life, didn't have
a job, and never left the house -- like to go play VP. It would be a
full time job to moderate a group with this much message traffic.

Judging from other groups I belong to (moderate a couple) this one
runs pretty well. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

But is it broke. This list is controled by RS and his made up supportive email names. Thing are quieting down but... soon he'll stir the pot again and continue to have his name in the lights (in order to get inuendo publicity and sell his martingale pregession book) And, I said "moderator(s)" There's nothing difficult in having several moderators to watch for new posts to reaarange subject headings on. I've managed Yahoo groups for years, some with a couple thousand members.

Another alternative is we pick up our toys and go form a new Yahoo group completly moderated to keep out this on going harrasment. The original intent of the "FREE" in vpFREE was to not have to pay my uncle bucks to talk about Video Poker.

Perhaps sometimes it is worth it to pay a fee for services ??? That is one of the services Skip provided and still provides.

And by the way, I know of at least two casino personnel who read or at least had someone provide them postings from this group. So there are some "dangers" of this type of format as well.

Do not get me wrong.... I see great value in this "product" and admire the volunteers who organize it! Frankly I am amazed at everything they are doing. I cannot see how they do it. The time commitment must be tremendous.

MAJOR SNIP...

My first reaction after giving the subject and text a quick scan and
seeing the words "sleazy"/"foolish" was, "Well, somebody's finally
found me out"

Actually, I'm commenting on this post only to provide the general
suggestion that quotes be carefully and accurately attributed. This
unattributed comment was made by Helmut Wolf. Given the (unfortunate)
subject line, these likely were interpreted to be my words --
possibly, as I first interpreted, a reference to a comment about me ;).

I do not agree. The system is not "broke". Rob Singer is just the salt in the soup.
We should not start talking about monitoring because nobody knows where monitoring ends and censorship begins.

I see nothing wrong with this forum as it is. I take the info I want
and do not read or forget the rest. Info on places like the new
changes at LVH are valuable to me, I would not want to see things
change
