It's a fair question. I won't speak for locals and I'm certainly no fan of
Harrah's VP, but I am rational about considering my options and goals. If I'm
interested in staying mid Strip, for an expected loss of $25 ($5K JB play)
I'll get a free room, $25 in comps and $10 CB. After an hour or so of play, I've
sung for my supper and can do anything or play anywhere I want and subsequent
marketing offers are plentiful and can be used with no play at all. Harrah's
is not often consistent with my goals or my best option, but I would be
foolish to disregard it.

I am from out of town and receiving a free room at Harrah's. Should I play there (to get a comp on next visit) or the Stratosphere, Palms, etc. What would you reccommend?

In Friday's Review Journal, Neon section, Dancer speaks of bounce back
cash from Harrahs. Has anyone experienced any?

Played about 3.5 hours at new racetrack casino of Harrahs in Louisana. They have much better vp than their other casino there. Played mostly 1$ machines, but also some .25 and a little while on a single line of nickel 50 play. Was there 2 weeks ago and have received 25$ bounceback plus 8$ bonus for use on sun-thur only. Put appx 1000 points on acct. and gained some points towards a platinum card. Still do not know their formula for determining points or tier ceredits. ROYALS TO ALL kat

If you like Harrah's then playing there would be a great choice. You have to decide what your personal priorities are, location, comps, cash back, VP, whatever .
You should try to play where your level of play is most appreciated. If you are a quarter player you will not likely get comped rooms at the Palms.

I would suggest you go through the VPfree database and see what suits your style, or you could post more specifics here and that will bring forth more specific answers and suggestions.

  I think that the answer to your question would depend entirely on what
your goals are when you come to LV. Everyone who visits here will have a
different set. For example, are you looking for the blue blood silver spoon
in the mouth type pampering for a reasonable cost or are you just interested
in clean comfortable accommodations without the mints on the pillow comped
or as cheap as you can acquire them? Are you looking for a property with a
good selection of full pay 100% + games, or does Little Green Men ring the
bells for you? Is a center strip location a factor for you? Will you have a
car? What level of play do you intend to give your chosen property and what
do you expect for it in return? Would you be looking for RFB or RFB-L or
possible airfare reimbursement? In vpFREE, our membership seems to encompass
quite a wide range of tastes and need expectations, but if you were to lay
out a solid outline containing your personal information as described above,
I am sure you will have a myriad of opinions offered to consider.

Thank you. All I need is a clean room, no mints. Full pay machines, I have no car. Do want to come back on a comped room though. Usually play .25 or $1, DB or JB or DW. Usually only can stay 2 or 3 days. I did not know they sometimes pay airfare.
I don't think I gamble enough to be comped air. Location on strip does not matter. Thank you

Showboat in Atlantic City has sent us some. They sent a calender with shaded days where we could get extra cashback, and more if we earned a certain number of point's.

As locals we have gotten bounce-back from Vegas Harrah's and Rio for several years. We will have to see how that changes. I'm guessing under the new system with no more same-day CB that perhaps the two will be folded into one.

I got this from a Harrah's host:

<<Your room cost will never decrement your points IF it is coded as one of the offers you receive in the mail. Neither will the other costs like show tickets, tournaments, dinners, gifts etc. that you get in a mail offer. Any offer you receive will not decrement your points.
However, charges (like food, shows) that were not included in the mail offer will come off your Reward Credits, whether you are put in at RFB or charge things to the room and use RC's yourself to pay for them at the end of your stay.

I earned 100 base Reward Credits on my card yesterday at Harrah's Vegas,
playing $1 9/6 Triple Play. I also got 69 Bonus RC's. Brad got 102 + 73
respectively.

I would suggest you try Main Street Station Downtown, clean rooms, some good VP, good food, reasonable with comps, and scratch cards that give you good cash back.
