I am a cost accountant by profession and would not run Harrah's the way it
is run if I was their CFO!
At the E. Chicago Harrah's they just put in eight 25c machines with full
pay games as the only competitive VP in their house. All their VP including
these are 2/3 or more empty on weekends and worse during the week. One mile
down the road is the Majestic Star (Same person owns the three Fitzgeralds
casinos.) on which 100% of the IGT and LED product have at least one game
as good as 9-6 jacks and many have several better games. (This is true all
the way down to 1c-100 play which has 9-6 BPD.) For some reason the only
bank that is not hard to get a seat on the weekend is their absolute best
which is a $1 progressive which includes a 99.98% base game and two other
games just over 99.80% at reset. In the Chicago Area, the average player is
not anywhere near as skilled as the people in this group. On occasion
careless slot techs have let me see the records on the machine. The average
play is about 3% worse than optimum in my market. On the same dock as the
Majestic is Trump and he has 5 nickel, 50+ 25c and 30+ $1 games that are
basically the same as the eight 25c Harrah's product. Because of their
cashback and comp rules, I consider them to be worse than the Majestic Star.
Hint to Harrah's: 3.5% of a handle twice as large as 5% of the smaller
handle is 40% more profitable.

If you hunger for the worst games and odds within your market, go to
Harrah's. If you want to test your act with bad rules and an overly
sweaty pit, play blackjack at Harrah's.
If you check a dealer's forum, you will find that most of their
complaints come from Harrah employees.
If you are fall down drunk but loosing a fortune in Harrah's Vegas
Horseshoe, they will ply you with more drinks, take your money, get
their wrist slapped and run their lying responsible gambling
commercial on tv.(check the BJ21 website)
If you want to go to a casino where every aspect of it is run by
cost accountants figuring out how to get the last penny out of it,
by all means go to Harrah's.
If for some odd reason you get the feeling that I am not a fan of
Harrah's, please note that it is my understanding that they do offer
some attractive mailers to their customers.vpFREE Links: http://members.cox.net/vpfree/Links.htm
