Just was in Harrah's Vegas and the 9/6 Jacks or Better $1 machines including
triple/five play are all now apparently 8/5. The only 9/6 I could still
find was the $5 in the hi roller room. This is a major downgrade, since
Harrah's always had at least a couple of $1 and $2 9/6 machines. (Actually I didn't
see the $2 machine so can't confirm if it was changed). I don't know why
Harrah's did this - it isn't as if they have great cashback or 2x points or
anything else, and I lost a LOT of money with no royals on these machines over
the past year.
On my way home I stopped at the Rio and saw the Spin Poker near the buffet -
they have 9/5 JB. The Triple play $1 machines that I thought were 9/5 now
seemed to be 8/6 so these may have been downgraded too (I forgot to check the
quads - I think they used to pay 130 instead of 125).
I don't know if there are any 8/5 Bonus machines at either Rio or Harrah's.
I suggest that anyone who plays at Harrah's complain - including letters. I
spoke to my host and complained. I mentioned I could play 9/6 at Caesars or
LV Hilton - he said when Caesars is taken over by Harrah's this may not be
true. None of the hosts seem to know what will happen with Park Place
takeover, but the prospects look dim.
