Harrahs Reno VP

I don't mean to be an alarmist, but I have
a change to report.

My wife and I travel to Vegas and Reno twice a year from our East Coast residences.

This year we decided to concentrate the bulk of our gaming in the Reno area on the VP machines at Harrahs Reno.
The reason being that it is one of the few Caesars properties remaining with 9/6 JOB at all levels between .25c and $5.

I began playing 9/6 JOB at about 8 this morning and then after a couple of hours, I took a break and walked over to the Silver Legacy where my wife was playing FPDW.
About an hour later I returned to Harrahs for another 9/6 session only to find that ALL of the $1, $2, and $5 dollar machines were out of service. (There were over 25 of them).
Nobody could offer an explanation except
To say they were taken offline.
When I asked for how long, I was given various estimates ranging from the rest of the day to several days.

I smell a paytable downgrade in the works.

I hope I'm wrong, but if I'm right, I'm voting with my feet, never to return.

I've been a diamond for 20 years, but enough is enough.

I hope someone with Harrahs reads this and responds, but if not, and if my suspicions are correct, I'm through with suffering through continuous Caesar Entertainment VP downgrades.

Jim

the walk from Harrahs nola to the cruise port is about 3 good blocks. We have always walked it with our bags. We are in our 50's and average fitness level.

We have walked back from the cruise port to Harrah's several times and it's fairly easy with our luggage on wheels. We didn't go through the mall but through the parking lot (for the mall) closest to the ship. If you are staying for a couple of days before the cruise leaves you could take a walk over there to see the best route. One complication will be all the crowds there for Mardi Gras if you are leaving on the 14th. It might be easier to ask Harrah's concierge. They might just provide you a limo over perhaps shared with some other SevenStar guests. When you disembark, Mardi Gras will be over and the walk back very easy....much easier than waiting for a car to pick you up. Hope you have a great trip!

We recently moved & the agent at the TR desk at Harrah's AC entered the new
address & phone number into their system in late January. The new info
shows up on their website, but we have stopped getting any mail from any
Caesars properties. We will discuss this with the agent at the TR desk
later this week.

Also, since we don't have any mailers, could someone tell me if the RC
Multiplier is on Thursday s in February? Without the mailers, we don't have
the codes for free play or buffets.

Thanks,

Bob B.

Either a paytable downgrade, or a point-earning increase (from $10 per point to $25 per point, or even worse...) I kid you NOT, Harrahs Reno has the WORST rooms of ANY Harrahs Property!!
(Of course it was also the FIRST in the Harrah's empire; but still!)

You report 25+ machines at Harrah's Reno taken out of service. Certainly, then, whatever change is at work involves more than the subset of machines w/ 9/6 JB, no?

A downgrade to the 9/6 jb paytables may be in play (among other things), but for now I'm inclined to suggest that serious concern about this is premature, until we know more.

The standard Harrah's Reno rooms are indeed the vilest to be found. Merely walking through one and brushing up against the dingy furnishings is enough to skeeve you out.

However, they did an outstanding suite renovation a year or so ago. The suites rank among the nicest upgrades I've encountered anywhere.

Presumably, someone tightened the purse strings before work proceeded on the standard room renovations.

I hope to have an update tomorrow, which by the way is triple points day for VP at Harrahs Reno.
There are still 4 single play 25 cent 9/6 JOB machines operating on the East side near the sports book but ALL of the dollar and up 9/6 machines on the East side were still out of service this evening at 7 PM when I left the casino.

Correction------I meant the West side casino when I referred to the out of service machines------it's been a long and expensive day. :disappointed:

As of 0600 this morning, all out of service machines are back in service with no apparent paytable changes.

Good to hear, Jim.

btw, when quoting prior message text, please include the minimum relevant text possible (critical when quoting from digests!).

Some of your posts in this thread are of "war and peace" length

Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to do that with my iPhone.
I'll hold off on posting until I get back to my home computer in Florida.

Hopefully someone will chime in with a pointer or two, Jim.

The timeliness of your comments was helpful!

It would be helpful to know if there has been any change in coin-in requirement for tier points for the 9/6 jacks.

As of yesterday, it was still $10 coin in per point on the $1 9/6 JOB.

As an aside I see lakeworth in your email address.
I grew up in Lake Worth, Florida. Is that where you reside? Or is it a different Lake Worth like Lake Worth, TX.?

They also took out the popular Red Hot Genie slot machines with the excuse that they can't find repair parts.

West Tower rooms are very nice. Never been in East Tower, from what I've heard they are worse.

Yes, I was born and raised there, but live here in Vegas now. Thanks for the information about Reno. We have an upcoming trip to Harrah's Reno, and would have cancelled (and told them why) if they had downgraded the JoB.

I finally had a chance to talk to a technician who, I think, gave me a straighter answer than the others I queried.
He said they were removing games that weren't getting play like. "Aces & Faces".

At any rate, all is well on the 9/6 JOB front at Harrahs Reno. (For the time being anyway).

FWIW, there's an interesting play at Harrahs Tahoe in the high limit area.
Two side by side .25c 50 play 9/6 JOB machines.
We had positive results playing them for several hours and in the process two separate hosts came by and introduced themselves.
Unusual for low level Diamonds like us.

Bev and I enjoyed a good run on the 50-p JB at LT last weekend. Unfortunately, while I thought I gave them strong play (15000 base tier in one day), the rating suggests that my offers there are going further into the toilet.

Someone told me on the evening of Feb 6 that the 9/6 JoB machines
outside high limit which used to be $1/$2/$5 are now $1 only, and the
$5 single-line machines inside high limit all have 8/5 JoB. If you
want to play 9/6 JoB it's either single-line $1 or multi-line $5 or
higher. Can anyone either confirm or refute this?
