Kelso writes, "I would not be surprised if the casino closes in a couple of years."
That will probably happen. It will happen because current CET management are [unprintable] with no respect for history (Reno being where Bill Harrah's empire started), morons, and crooks, desperate to hold onto their positions, while lacking the business sense, initiative, or resources to make the needed investments in their properties. The bankruptcy WILL result in CET being broken up, and current management WILL lose their jobs, and maybe more. Harrah's Reno has become an embarrassment to the CET system--but just one of several at this point. Management publicly stated maybe two years ago that a multimillion dollar investment was needed to bring the hotel rooms up to a good standard. They were basically fishing for someone to hand them the money to do it. Yeah, right. I'm afraid that Harrah's Reno has become so unattractive an investment that no one will want it, and it will be leveled or will become a frightening derelict like the King's Inn. The truth is that there is STILL excess hotel-casino capacity in Reno. Closing Harrah's should be about enough to restore health to the industry.
