Harrah's NO

"So does FP VP earn bonus reward credits in the big easy or are machines set with low theo a la Caesars LV? "

I jus came back last week from Harrahs NO and received no bonus credits for my play on full pay machines.

Do not know what theoretical they are set to.

Thanks. Guess I'll be giving action in Biloxi and enjoying the sights in
NO.

Now you do. .9% on the NSUD/Jacks. Still, not a bad place for a
vacation play, and the hotel is 5*.

Which hotel is 5*? And by what rating system? Surely you don't refer
to the new HET hotel which is pedestrian at best.

I agree. I can say with confidence that there isn't a Harrahs property
in the country that could attain a rating that's in the ballpark of
Five Star status.

Four Stars would be a reach at most HET properties. Keep in mind that
most Four Seasons and Ritz properties are in the Four Star category.
In Vegas properties like Wynn and Bellagio are only Four Stars.

Even the finest Harrahs properties are only in the Three Star range.
The amount of labor required to offer Five Star (or even Four Star)
guest service is extensive and not something the bean counters at most,
if not all, Harrahs properties would permit.

TJ, what is your description of a "pedestrian hotel"? Caesars AT?
I've stayed in both HET NO and AT several times, and I find the two
quite comparable. I live them both!

I guess it's all in the eye of the beholder.

Not to quibble, but I would disagree. It all depends on what is meant by "5 star" and "4 star". If you use the AAA "Diamonds" as the measure (and many, if not most, do), then the Bellagio, Wynn, and Skylofts are all "5 Diamond". There are many "4 Diamond" hotels in Vegas, including the HET properties Caesar's and Paris. HET NO is not amongst either group however. FWIW, Harrah's and Harvey's in Tahoe are both 4 Diamond as well.

Mobil uses stars and since the thread has been discussing four, and

Boy, what did I start here? From my 4-5 stays there, the room quality

literally, yes, it's not, say, a Regent or Four Seasons, but I've
played all over the world, have been an elite member with both the
Hilton and Marriott programs, and I'm really picky when it comes to a
room. While maybe not 5* in the strictest interpretation, they're
certainly 4+ at the very least.

Forgive me. I didn't mean to start a squabble. Your assessment
above ("eye of the beholder") is crucial but I would slightly modify
that to "it's all probably in the experience of the guest." The new
HET NO hotel is a very nice, but ordinary, hotel which I would rate a
three star location. Someone mentioned, I believe, a Motel 6 in a
bit of an angry response. I can't say that I could judge a Motel 6
because I've never stayed in one. In fact, barring unforeseen
extraordinary circumstances involving duress of some sort, I intend
never to set foot in a Motel 6. Perhaps hocketstl has noted above
best where I was coming from when I made my post. And that's
precisely why I asked what rating system gave 5 stars to HET NO. My
guess is that none has.

TJ, I think we are on the same page here about HET NO. I notice that
Caesars is a Mobil 3*. Like you, I agree they are comparable. I just
wasn't sure of your definition of "pedestrian hotel."

I have not yet actually stayed at the new hotel, but visited a friend's
suite. It was quite nice. All my stays at HNO have been across the
street, just next to the new H hotel, at the Hilton Riverside. At
Hilton I have Gold status and have always been upgraded to quite
excellent rooms. I do not checkin at the HET desk area but rather at
the Gold/Platinum area at the far end.

What I most like about staying at the Hilton is the executive lounge
near the top which has two glass walls, one overlooking the river and
the other the city. What a lovely place to enjoy breakfast as
daybreaks and a drink or two in the evening. Barring some calamitous
change for the worse at the Hilton, I'll always ask for that location
before the new HET hotel.

NSUD is gone from high-limit, as well as all other 99% games. Only the 98% games below are left.
