There will be no more video poker machines at LA Downs anymore. This
was as of last Thursday 11-16-06. I talked to one of the techs and he
stated they cannot have video poker at a race track anymore. Anyone
else know anymore about this? Sorry to see them go as that was the only
reason I went there. He did say they were moving some of the machines
to the Horseshoe. Maybe this will put some more playable machines at
the Horseshoe.
Harrahs LA Downs
Isn't it now state law in Louisiana, that race tracks cannot have video poker machines on
the property? Reading elsewhere, it seems to be the result of the lobbying efforts of
"other" entities, like truck stops and grocery stores that have VP machines, not wanting the
racetracks to "horn in" on their action with better VP tables than they have.

--- I heard through my cousins that as of the weekend of Dec. 9 no VP
machines remained at LAD. You mention that you have read elsewhere
about a lobbying effort to remove them..guess it worked. Do you have
a link or web site where you were reading up on it? I would like to
read about the reasoning and successful effort. I have done some
searches but can't find anything relevant. Thanks BL.
