The only reason this has started in Illinois is because of the recent law
where casinos get charged $5 for each person who passes through the turnstyle,
and therefore some of the casinos are passing it along to the patrons.

One thought on my earlier posts about the admission charged at Hollywood in
Aurora and the non-addmission policy at Grand Victoria in
Elgin.............Hollywood has its buffet inside the casino, so you don't have to l"eave and
re-enter" to eat.
Grand Victoria does not have its buffet in the casino, so you would have to
leave and re-enter to continue gambling after a lunch/dinner break. I wonder if
Grand Victoria has to cough up all the extra "five bucks" the state of
Illinois wants each time a person boards the boat?

Didn't know about the new law. It's been several years since we were up in St. Louis, and apparently before that law was passed.

Its like New Jersey charging to park your car at the casinos', only its per car not per vehicle. It used to be $2, and they changed the state "fee" to $3, and some places are charging $4. You can beat it by taking the bus, which my wife and I will do more of for day trips.
