Harrah's Dream Vacation

Anybody tried this on Harrahs.com homepage?

I tried it on four different days, and each time, on the final screen,
when I click on three of the nine poker chips, the first two are
always Rio, and the third something else. I think it is "fixed".

Picking three matching symbols out of nine, has a chance of 1 in 84 or
better (depending on how many matching symbols there are). That's a
lot better odds than you would have in many drawings and raffles.

I think it is preordained that you'll ose as soon as you click on the
homepage link, and the rest is just for "entertainment". I think there
are many "virtual chips" that make the choice of the three matching
ones extremely difficult.

Another WoF wannabe.

That's been my experience so far. As for it being fixed...doubt it.

They "fixed" it today.

The first two were Grand Biloxi, and the third Bally's.

I still think it is "fixed" in the sense we are not choosing three out
of nine chips, but realy three from many "virtual" chips, the nine
displayed there being "just for entertainment".

I mean the chance of drawing three similar ones here is not NC3, where
N is way more than 9.

Quick, everybody who sees this, please try the Dream Vacation promo on
harrahs.com mainpage.

Looks like today, the first two chips would reveal Grand Biloxi, and
the third something else. This will be one step in confirming the
virtual chip theory.

Same here. First two Grand Biloxi and the third was Harrah's.

My first two were Grand Biloxi. In the official rules it states
that they have predetermined times and the first person to enter at
the winning time will be the winner.

I guess they can make their rules, however arbitrary and capricious
they might be, as long as they affect all the people equally.

But why go through the charade of picking the three chips?

To get everyone's e-mail address, for marketing.

When everyone signed up for the slot card, did you give them your e-
mail address? Some did and some did not.

How many of the ones that did not give it, just went and tried to win
a vacation?

Watch the e-mails to start rolling pretty soon.

It looks like today, the first two choices are going to be Biloxi.

To get everyone's e-mail address, for marketing.

possibly. They already have my e-mail, and one of these days might
"trespass" me just on that count, as I wite to the a lot, usually
crticicizing something they do, and/or don't do.

Funny thing is, even after I sign on to my account at Harrahs.com - at
which point they have access to my e-mail address, DoB, if I go to the
Dream Vacation page, I have to enter them all again.

But this is nothing new. Information is routinely asked for, a) when
it is not really necessary, b) when they already have it.

Whatever shows on the pick the chips screen has nothing to do with
the game. It is only for show . The game win is based on the time
you pick the chips not the match. Harrahs enters a predetermined
time in the game script, if you complete the game on or closest to
that time you win. Here is part of the rules (Note the words
computer-generated winning time) :
"Instant Win Game Prize: Twelve (12), computer-generated winning
times, one (1) for each Instant Win Prize listed below, will be
generated during the Promotion Period. There will be one (1) random,
computer-generated winning time for the First Prize between October
20, 2006 and October 26, 2006; one (1) random computer-generated
winning time for the Second Prize between November 17, 2006 and
November 23, 2006; one (1) random computer-generated winning time
for the Third Prize between September 8, 2006 and September 14,
2006; one (1) random computer-generated winning time for the Fourth
Prize between September 15, 2006 and September 21, 2006;

See #65757 - it already reported about the pre-determined times.

My complaint is - then why go through the rest of the charade?
Including the tease of first two symbols matching, and oops, third one
doesn't match; sorry, you didn't win this time!
