I know there was a fair amount of discussion on the topic in the past,
but I don't recall anyone mentioning that on Harrah's website they
officially list the requirements for diamond, and also platinum, in a
day. The interesting thing is how varied the requriement is, based on
casino. I didn't check all casinos, but a sampling of 5 casinos
uncovered a range of 1400-4000 pts for diamond. Platinum seemed fairly
consistent at 1000 pts a day.

The location might not be accessible if you already have the diamond
card. When I logged into my account a choice appeared, click here to
see how you can upgrade to diamond in a day. It then let you choose
any casino location from a list. The list does not have a web link,
but appears as a separate pop-up menu. I could not find the link in
any of the other menus.
