Absolutely true. Look what's going on in Atlantic City since the
Borgata came on the scene. In the past 2 years, just about every
property (with the exception of the Trump properties) has
renovated, built new towers of hotel rooms, upgraded their
inventory, added TITO to their machines, brought in higher paytable
VP... and there's currently a comp war brewing in AC, too.

All it took was some competition, and the whole town has been
changed.

Other than the "built new towers of hotel rooms" and the "added TITO"
parts, you can also add Harrahs/Showboat to the Trump properties
exception above. There's been NO higher paytable VP added to the
Showboat, and I doubt they've done much with the VP inventory
@Harrahs either.

Showboat remains a VP-players wasteland, and Harrahs isn't much
better. They may catch on eventually, especially since the buzz
about Borgata ISN'T dying down(even after the novelty wears off), but
I'm not holding my breath.

Which goes back to the original point -- if the Harrah's organization wants
to attract people back to the property, they should stop wasting time on
fake promotions and tier point systems. They already have a nice facility
in AC. Just give people good games to play and decent comps, instead of
trying to lure people back with crap like more logoed sweatshirts and
washing my car while it's in the valet.

It's a pretty simple formula, really.
