Between Showboat and Resorts? Yes, I'm making _that_ choice.
But I'm not "choosing" to go to Showboat over Borgata, I simply won't
have the time to get over there and back before our bus leaves - as
previously explained(in my first post to this thread).
(And it's not just a matter that I "feel" luckier @Showboat than
@Resorts[as if there's any other difference between 2 8/5 JoB
machines], I've consistantly done considerably better(especially on
one particular machine) at Showboat than at Resorts.
Would I do even better on a 9/6 machine? I prolly would. But I was
replying to your suggestion that I play @Resorts(rather than
@Showboat), so 9/6's don't even enter the equation(unfortunately).
And, no offense, but that's EXACTLY why Harrah's and Showboat and a
lot of other properties will continue to offer garbage VP and lousy
comps -- because people are still going to choose to go there even
though they know better.
In general, I agree: Showboat's comps STINK and they've gotten
noticeably WORSE since the "new and improved" Total RIPOFF program
changes. However, I got an e-mail offer(this-day-only) for $10 and a
FREE FQB meal for TWO. I'm sure $10 isn't much to most people(it's
not that much to me either), but I'm "only" Platinum @Showboat and I
haven't played there this year. And a FREE meal for TWO sure beats
their usual "BUY 1, get one free(only on certain days, and only if
there's no storms forcast)" offer.
If we didn't have any comps for tomorrow, or only had Showboat's
typically lousy ones, we'd be headed for Borgata almost certainly.
But - at least for this one day - Showboat's given us a half-decent
comp, so we're using it. Who knows, maybe if others do the same it
might encourage them to upgrade their comps more often?
Believe me; I'd MUCH prefer to go to Borgata tomorrow. But with 6
hours(at most) @AC, I figure 2 hours is already "shot" at the FQB
(Particularly since that one-day-only e-mail offer'll prolly result
in a line, even for those of us above Gold level). Walking from
Sands to/from Showboat(/Resorts/Taj)'ll prolly "kill" another hour or
so(my wife doesn't walk anywhere nearly as fast as I can).
Which leaves about 3 hours(at most). AC Shuttle service being what
it is, I just don't "trust" that we'd have much time @Borgata at all,
and I definitely don't "trust" that we'd get back to the Sands in
time to catch our bus - unless we left Borgata about a full hour
before it's departure time(?).
Believe me tho; we ARE "making our break from" Showboat. It's just
gonna have to come slowly, since things like limited-time bustrips
(and the fact that - currently, at least - we only get comproom
offers from Showboat and Resorts[and Showboat's anal about using
Showboat room comps @Harrahs]) complicate things.
*shrug*
But you're far from being "forced" to go play a lousy 8/5 machine.
See it however you wish. From my perspective tho, since Showboat,
Taj, & Resorts are ALL "9/6 JoB-free zones", the time restraints on
our trip tomorrow don't leave us too many options.
But that's only ONE trip. I'm SURE that future ones(certainly any
overnights) will allow us adequate time to head over to the Borgata.
And I'm equally sure that we will!
