Excellent idea, and we all know how much good the "boycott" of Coast

change is if we have another 9/11 or the U.S. economy goes completely
into the trash can.

Coast did change. It sold itself to Boyd, which ADDED full-pay deuces wild to
one of its properties while Coast eliminated it at all of its casinos.

Excellent idea, and we all know how much good the "boycott" of Coast
Casinos has helped that situation.

More importantly -- why would you go play at a casino if you know the games
aren't good there?

The answer in Atlantic City used to be "Because if I'm going to have to play
short-pay, I might as well be treated decently." Which is why many of us
probably went to Harrah's, myself included.

However, not only did Harrah's stop treating its good customers well...
there's also lots of good VP in town all of a sudden, and most of it is at
casinos where you'll get treated VERY well, namely the Borgata and
Ceasars/Ballys.

So... why would anyone go play VP at Harrah's AC anymore, anyway? Doesn't
make any sense to me.

a) Refusing to play at a casino, and b) Letting the casino know why (it's
unfortunate how many people skip the second step) may not work all the time,
but it's just about the only techniques available to us.

Also, I don't agree casinos will only change if there is another 9/11 or a
recession. Casinos change their habits when they get new managers, or if
they're not meeting profit/market-share projections, or as a result of new
initiatives by competitors. I suspect they change VP and slot machines many
times simply because the old inventory was "stale" and they want to try
something new. You have to be patient and willing to visit a casino to
check out what they have, even if you suspect the visit is going to be a
waste of time.

Absolutely true. Look what's going on in Atlantic City since the Borgata
came on the scene. In the past 2 years, just about every property (with the
exception of the Trump properties) has renovated, built new towers of hotel
rooms, upgraded their inventory, added TITO to their machines, brought in
higher paytable VP... and there's currently a comp war brewing in AC, too.

All it took was some competition, and the whole town has been changed.
