Harrahs comps

Clarification: Harrahs does not take points for your room if you get a room
free in a promotion, for example a slot tournament or a coupon, or even if
you call as a Diamond or 7 Stars member and ask for a comp room and get it.

But Harrahs does not have RFB - Room, Food, and Beverage. So if you eat a
meal or go to the bar or go to a show and charge this to your room, when you
check out points are deducted from your comp account. This is different from
most casinos where if you are at a high enough level, you get free food and
beverage, but no comps are taken from any "accumulating comps" type account
(for example at Ballys/Paris under their current system).

I'm wondering if Harrahs does have some sort of "hidden" comp account, such
that if you have accumulated comps, if you use them up to buy a gift card or
other gift, and have Zero in your comp account, and then book a room, you
could charge food and get it comped? There are hints of this. Can anyone confirm
this?

In some instances if you ask a host for a airport limo, they will not charge
your comp account. In other cases, they may charge your comp account. We
were told this when we were in Atlantic City recently.

Also, in some locations comp accounts can be tapped for items off-property.
For example, at New Orleans Harrahs (prior to flooding), they could use
comps to pay for food at off-property restaurants, as well as Grey Line Tours.
At Tahoe we were able to have comps pay for the Heavenly Ski Lift ride.

I'm thinking that once the dust settles with the merger, you might be able
to stay at one property and get a show at another "Harrahs" property using your
comps.

To add to some confusion, if you want to see the Lucas show at Rio or Mac
King at Harrahs and ask for a comp, they will take the full amount for the show
- approximately $24 I believe. But you do better to use the discount
coupons they hand out at the Carnival Court. But they won't combine them!

Also if you have a discount coupon, such as $10 off for Penn & Teller and
try to use comp credits, you can't get the $10 off! But if you have a room,
and charge the Penn & Teller tix and give the box office the coupon, you can
then use comp credits to pay your hotel bill charges -- and end up paying $10
less! This can be annoying! (was to me!)

Yes, I can. Harrah's is one example that you don't want to "store up" comps. After your RC balance is zero, the host will comp food, shows, etc. - the amount depending, of course, on your play level.

I've heard this both ways. Some people claim that they haven't had
any credits deducted when on RFB. Actually, I haven't heard from
anyone who HAS had credits deducted. We'll give it a test this
weekend at Harrah's AC - we're LFB there (RFB at Showboat), so we'll
see if etaing at the buffet deducts any credits.
