harrahs cherokee nc

Hi,
I have been to Cherokee a few times as I live just a couple
of hours away. It is o.k., if you are a slot player, as my
wife is. If you are looking for v.p. then it is nothing to
brag about. The best machines they have are a bank of
quarter double bonus machines against the wall to the right
of the side entrance. They have a progressive jackpot which
I have seen get up around 2 grand a time or two. Normally it
is around 1200 to 1400. I ran the game in winpoker with a
1600 jackpot and it came up with a 98.7 return. I believe
they also have some fifty cent progressive machines like
them nearby. I haven't stayed at the Ramada myself but my
wife has a couple of times and says it is o.k. They do have
blackjack there but instead of the dealer dealing the cards
he pushes buttons on the table to electronically deal to
individual video screens. They don't serve alcohol. Just
soft drinks and coffee. If you play the slot machines, be
careful, as they are double pull. On the first spin you have
to hold the reels you want then spin the other reels a
second time. You have to do this even if you win on the
first spin. Just hold them all and spin again. Have seen
many people get a win on first spin and think that was it
and not hold them then spin again and loose the original
win, so be forewarned. Also on the slots, most of them have
a max coin limit of 40 and the max coin button is near the
spin button, so be careful. They place is very crowded on
weekend nites from around 7 pm till 1am so if time allows go
on a weekday nite or during the mornings on the weekend. If
you have any questions email me and I will see if me or my
wife can answer them.
Hope this helps,
Lynn

We are going there for the very first time next weekend. I
emailed a
few VPFree list members who had posted about Cherokee
previously and
none of them had anything positive to say. We are making
the trip to
primarily visit the Great Smokey Mountain area and take the
train
ride since we're going to be in the area on a business trip.

We're staying at the Ramada Inn across from the casino but
don't know
anything about it. Have you ever stayed there? The casino
hotel was
booked solid for a Diamond event they're having next
weekend.

I hear there are no table games and no alcohol served in the
casino
or restaurants...I find that hard to believe! Any insight
you can
give me would be much appreciated. However, from what I've
heard so
far, I don't think we'll be doing a lot of gambling and I
imagine
I'll be very happy to get back to our "home away from home"
at
Treasure Bay in Biloxi! We never have been big fans of
Harrah's
properties and this trip will probably reconfirm our
feelings.

May the Force of the Royals be with you!

Lynn,
Thanks for all the info...I'll look for those progressives. Any
feedback/suggestions on the restaurants at the casino and/or in the
area that are open this time of year?

May the Force of the Royals be with you!
