9/6 JB at Harrah's was never a good play for so-called "advantage players"
since they have awful cashback to add to it. Any real "advantage players"
definitely would be playing elsewhere in Las Vegas. So removing it just annoys
people and makes them stop recommending Harrah's to their non-VP-playing
friends.
I believe that having a few decent VP machines is good for business. A
casino needs to have some winners to encourage others to play. Also word of
mouth of good play brings in lots of friends, relatives, and people who don't
know how to play. When all the slots are tight and the VP is tight, only the
1-trip gamblers are going to come. Repeat gamblers will generally go
elsewhere, unless there is an especially good promotion or some other reason to go to
a casino, and their friends/relatives will go elsewhere too.
