Harrah's 7 Stars Birthday Gift

If you are a 7 Stars player did you receive this. It comes in envelope that say's "Your Day. Your Gift. There is a picture of a rose, champagne and a woman sleeping. The enclosure says Happy Birthday with a picture of a rose, champagne and a gift box. The insert says "An indulgence just for you" Please enjoy this special birthday offer with our compliments. Play, earn and match! Earn up to 5,000 base reward credits on us.

That's right, it's a 2x multiplier!!!!! I gave them 5-6 million in action last year. Jackie Gaughan's Western Casino on Fremont St would give you a better offer than this on your birthday. This is nothing short of an insult of titanic proportion. You would be better off mailing nothing. I am not the only person who received. A player I know who gave them more action that I did got the identical offer.

. . . or rather than taking it as an insult, you could consider their acquisition of yet another "Strip" property (Planet Hollywood) as their "gift" of yet another casino in which you may provide funding for them to pay down their corporate debt load.

Wow, that's ridiculous. When I was 7 Stars I got an offer for a $200 VISA gift card and they mailed me a Bake A Wish cake.

I did $6750 coin in at TI a year ago and received a small Bake A Wish cake and a card with $300 free play valid for 90 days from my birthday.

The people at HET making these decisions have their collective heads up their asses.

I just got notification in the mail over the weekend that you can earn 20x points on Sundays at Caesar's Windsor in October....

First visit is 5x, 2nd visit is 10x, then 15x, then 20x on the last visit and retroactive for 20x base points on all 4 visits if you go and play the 4 Sundays in October there, and this is good for ANYONE also at any tier card level.

Boy, they must really be hurting for our business in Canada now, they just took out all the fullpay pickem and shorted them and no one is playing there now....

George Lee has a very valid point. I have not put one nickel in Harrah's machines for over ten (10)years . It was over playing VP at the bar in Harrah's for almost six (6)hrs.12 midnight till almost 6 AM went to bed ,after about 5 hrs.sleep went down to Hosts office asked for only one (1) buffet comp.I had a good run for my play lost only about $15.00. Host said I had a very little lost factor and he couldn't give me a comp to the buffet and sense then Harrah's has not received a cent of my action.

Prior to that my main play was at Harrah's and I had special invites to Red Buttons,Henny, Youngman,Donna Fargo,Rosemarie.Morrie Amsterdam, etc. You can see by the names it has been quite a while.

Mark I can assure you that
1. Someone from Harrahs IS reading this
2. They already know what you are saying
3. They don't care if they lose you as a customer
4. They don't even want you as a customer

What they want is the degenerate customer who will come in day by day or week by week and drop their own money. This without the help of promos/marketing support which costs HET $$$ at a time when money is very tight for them.

Yes, I know you have to spend money to make money, but HET does not accept that rule.

Not that tight. In just the last week alone, they spent $90 million for Thistledown and up to $175 million to buy back some Harrah's Operating Corp. paper.

That little chocolate cake that TI sent was much appreciated. And the $300 could be used any time without a stay. It is a great psychological ploy to make people feel special on their birthday. But with new TI management this amenity may not even exist any more.

In terms of Harrahs, I cashed out my Reward Credits long ago. I am in the upper tiers at other properties and don't even use the Diamond Lounge for free. There is simply no reason for me to walk in the door.

But in Harrahs defense (if there is one) many others including myself patronized them for the gift card events. My top value was a $1250 VISA card, but others in line received up to $5000. And the cruises are a lure for some. Personally, being stuck on a boat with poor VP for days on end doesn't appeal to me at all.

Some MGM-Mirage properties now offer gift card events frequently. And I do see an occasional free cruise offer as well. So, in my mind, those two big "draws" to Harrahs' properties in the past are no longer a competitive advantage.

I'd consider returning some day if new management seriously made constructive changes. But until then Harrahs is a dead issue with me.

The last time I played at TI was a year ago when I used my last birthday free play offer. The cake with the $300 free play just came less than two weeks ago, so they're still doing it (at least for now).

I agree -- nobody does gift card offers as well as HET. However, I think those are fewer and less these days. They just keep cutting back.

There would have to be major changes in HET system to get me back!

Tell that to the people who had $5000 brookstone forced on them a few months back.

Yeah, maybe "well" wasn't the right word. It should have been, nobody does gift card offers as frequently as HET.

You have no idea how much these posts warms the cockles of the hearts of the typical Harrahs senior execs (even the ones who will probably be unemployed by the end of this year when Harrahs likely goes Ch 11). Do keep up the good work!

If there are two places in the Harrahs organization where the VP players are truly despised, it's Vegas and Windsor. But I never considered Windsor that great a play, for $1 players, the current MGM Drawing promo is probably playable (go check out their website) and you don't have to mess with customs either.

Let's not start unsubstantiated rumors about
these guys having hearts, Ok?

They may or may not have hearts. Only their cardiologist would know.

But from a broader managerial perspective it is simply a matter of a poor marketing strategy being implemented. It tells me that those at the top are either poorly trained or not very perceptive. It's not a matter of being callous or uncaring. They are simply being dumb.

Common sense tells you that you treat your high end clients with great care and respect. One of them can contribute as much to your profit margin as dozens who spend (wager) less.

Recently I had a sizable winning trip and made a large cash deposit. I was handled in privacy by a bank officer who brought me bottled water.

But when I deposit a small check, I am directed to quench my thirst at the water fountain on the other side of the bank.

The issue eventually will be damage control as Harrahs loses players who drift away over time. Management should not underestimate the major challenge of winning back those it has offended with cheapness and poor customer service.

Last year's downturn in the Vegas economy has already disproved the ignorant notion that "they always come back".

NEWS FLASH: We don't.
